The Alberta Elite Hockey League is pleased to announce Brett O’Halloran, Dreyon Aleman, and Nixon Mah as the Players of the Month for December.
U18 AAA – Brett O’Halloran (Goaltender – Calgary Flames NWCAA)
O’Halloran was a workhorse for the Flames in the month of December. The Calgary native started in five games, winning four of those matches. O’Halloran finished the month with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .945 with one shutout.
U17 AAA – Dreyton Aleman (Defence – Okotoks Oilers)
During the month of December Aleman played in seven games for the Okotoks Oilers U17 AAA team in which he tallied three goals and seven assists in those games, which led all defencemen.
“Dreyton is a dynamic, hardworking player we rely on him to play in every situation. He is a powerful skating d-man who excels at carrying the puck, joining the rush, and quarterbacking our powerplay,” said head coach Ken Plaquin.
“Off the ice Dreyton is also a leader in the classroom where he works just as hard as he does on the ice.”
U15 AAA – Nixon Mah (Goaltender – Calgary Flames NWCAA)
Mah had a very strong month for the Flames, suiting up in two league games, winning both and holding the opposition to two goals in each contest, including a 33 save overtime win against Airdrie.
“In December Nixon climbed to the top of the goalie standing in the U15AAA Division and continued his undefeated record this season while leading his team to the top of the South Division Standings,” said Flames head coach Philip Wood. “He also led the Flames to a strong showing in the Kelowna Okanagan Classic tournament, where he was selected as first all star by the WHL Scouts in attendance.”
